Knothole is gorgeous today. There's honestly no other way to put it. Citizens are out and about, working in their gardens, playing with their children, or simply basking in the glow of the warm sun. So why is Amy Rose not enjoying herself to such a harmonious degree? Because when you're trying to win the heart of the handsomest hedgehog in town, you've got no time to waste!

She's walking without looking where she's going, as she's reading the same set of pages over and over again. Those passing by her might see that they're music sheets. Sonic played the guitar, so perhaps if she followed up with some instrumental talent of her own, they might wind up making beautiful music together! Unfortunately, her last few attempts - flute, violin, drums - had not worked out so well - finger got stuck, snapped the string, and royally angered the neighbors.

There was still the 'singing' option, yet it felt like she would just be copying Mina Mongoose. And no one's voice in Knothole could compare to Mina! She grumbled, sticking out her upper lip in frustration as she looked the notes over again. Why was true love so hard?

Sonic groaned in frustration. "Relax? No way! The last thing I wanna do is relax. I wanna get out and have some adventure, explore and have some fun. Not be stuck hanging around the city like this." He motioned arbitrarily out to the city. When one was able to move as fast as he could, large spaces could get small really quickly. Especially cities the size of Knothole. "This is just.. boring."

"It can't be that boring." He had her, after all! "And there's always plenty to do here. You've got friends to hang out with. Besides, if you were really that bored, you wouldn't be here, you'd be out looking for trouble."

... Suddenly she realized she'd just invited temptation. Amy quickly began plucking all the faster, as if to drown out her previous statement. "Not that you should... I mean... Knothole is so much more fun when you're around!"

Sonic cocked an eyebrow.

If he wanted to be out of the city, he'd be gone fast than she could blink an eye. Sonic was notorious for making his own brand of entertainment, but he was supposed to be watching out for the city while the other Freedom Fighters were off doing other tasks. Without him to watch the city then who knew what Eggman would pull.

But he couldn't help but smile as Amy provided him with a possible out. If he could get her to keep an eye out then he could find something else to do outside the city! The hedgehog perked right up at her words, "Now that you mention it, how 'bout you give me a hand with a top secret Freedom Fighter mission?"

She stopped plucking. A top secret mission? There was a hint of suspicion in the back of her head, but it was ultimately drowned by HE TRUSTS ME! Amy's knees snapped together as she knelt, her eyes sparkling and hands tripping together. Oh, he really did trust her!

"I'd love to!" She squealed, wondering what kind of plan this was. "I get it now... you were just waiting around until you found the right partner, huh?" Oh, her clever boy. Maybe they'd fight some robots, and go undercover, and in the end he'd save her and remark what an amazing fighter she was, cue sunset and romance.

The hedgehog glanced off towards the outskirts of the city. Sweet! Now he could run around out there, do some exploring of the forest and take a run through the trees, maybe visit the water or something. "Yeah, sure." Sonic agreed dismissively without actually comprehend what it was that he was agreeing to. He was more concerned with being able to get out of the city and being able to run around than listening.

"All you gotta do is keep an eye out and let me know if you see robots or anything weird." Sonic stood up and nodded to the nearby forest, "I'm gonna check outside the city."

"Sure, I can do that!" She nodded. It was simple enough, anyone could do it. Maybe she could even keep practicing while he ran away...

Wait a minute.

She narrowed her eyes, sensing she was about to get tossed aside like old trash. "Sonic, is this a solo mission...?"

"Of course it's a solo mission." Sonic turned to head off to the forest. "I'll see ya later, Ames! Gotta go do that patrol thing!"

Oh, he was a dead man.

"SOOOONIIIC!"

She stood up to give him a good whallop - but totally forgot she was wearing the guitar. She yelped as the weight yanked her backwards, sending her to the ground. If he wanted to get away - with his skull intact - now would be a good time.

In no time at all there was nothing but a trail of dust where Sonic had been previously standing. He certainly wasn't about to wait around for her to change her mind or say no; he knew better than that.

Besides, there was too much exploring to do!
